Gies Business Research Lab (GBRL) is seeking applications for Fall 2026 GBRL undergraduate research assistants (2-3 positions available) 
 
The GBRL RA’s will administer research study sessions in Wohlers labs and train other research assistants to administer such sessions, assist researchers with credit granting for extra credit research participation, and assist GBRL Coordinator with other duties as needed. Applicants must be able to work and problem-solve independently and have excellent attention to detail. Familiarity with Qualtrics and Sona is desired but not required. 

This is a paid position and is in-person. Afternoon and early evening availability is required. Maximum of 10 hours per week. MUST be an undergraduate student. The Office of Undergraduate Research is proud to announce the recipients of the Outstanding Presentation Awards and Honorable Mentions from the 2026 Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Held as part of Undergraduate Research Week, this year’s Symposium brought together more than 1,400 undergraduate students from across the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to showcase their research, scholarship, and creative inquiry through poster presentations, oral presentations, performances, and exhibits.

The Office of Undergraduate Research congratulates all award recipients and thanks every student presenter, faculty mentor, judge, staff member, and attendee who contributed to the success of this year’s event. The quality and breadth of undergraduate research on display continue to reflect the innovation, curiosity, and dedication of Illinois students.

The Data Mining Group (DMG) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking motivated undergraduate students for a summer research opportunity in machine learning, large language models (LLMs), information retrieval, and AI agents. Students will work closely with PhD researchers on ongoing projects related to retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), search agents, reinforcement learning for LLMs, and trustworthy AI systems. Responsibilities may include literature review, implementing and running experiments, analyzing results, and contributing to research prototypes and papers.
 
We welcome students from Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, though students from other majors with strong technical backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. Prior experience with Python, machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch), or NLP/LLM research is preferred but not strictly required. Strong programming skills, curiosity, and willingness to learn are highly valued.
 
This is a paid research opportunity for Summer 2026. Expected time commitment is approximately 10–20 hours per week, with flexibility depending on availability and project needs.
