What is it?

The Office of Undergraduate Research is piloting a program to guide and support students through the process of securing an undergraduate research experience. Though many students find success after attending a Getting Started in Research Workshop, we recognize many students want longer-term support.

Students selected to be part of the Aspiring Researchers Alliance will build a community of practice with other students that goes beyond finding a research opportunity. Through multiple collaborative workshops, students will work together to secure their first undergraduate research position for the spring semester. Once you secure an opportunity, you will remain part of a mentorship cohort to support and inspire the next generation of aspiring researchers.

While we cannot guarantee a research position, we hope this support group serves as a community to share concerns, challenges, and successes. Students will be expected to engage in weekly meetings and complete assignments throughout the semester.

Who should apply?

All undergraduate students who have little or no research experience are eligible to apply. This includes both domestic and international students.

This program is designed for students who aspire to be part of a community of dedicated aspiring researchers; individuals willing to commit weekly time to mutual support and growth. For students who are looking for assistance in discovering research opportunities through a less immersive approach, we recommend attending one of our workshops or arranging a personalized one-on-one meeting.
